What is a menstrual cup?

Menstrual cup is a feminine hygiene cup used during the down days to provide hygienic protection from stains and spots. They are made of medical grade silicone and shaped like a bell, which is flexible in nature and good for women’s health.

They come in different color options and different sizes. So, the women of any figure with any specific taste can use them happily. Since they come in so many different sizes, a woman can choose her size depending on her vagina’s size.

Women are too fond of colorful things. Keeping this instinct of women in mind, manufacturers have made them available in the market in so many different color options. Even, they can be found in colorless or transparent option too. Be it colorless or colorful cups, both are the healthy alternatives to women period products as the dyes used to color the products are tremendously safe in use, even for the most sensitive skin.

How to Use a menstrual cup?

While using a menstrual cup, women need to first fold it and then insert it directly to the vagina. If inserted rightly, it can stay there comfily for upto 12 hours long without having you to worry about any kind of leaks or stains. The vaginal fluid gets collected in the cup and once it is filled, it can be emptied, sterilized and reused again. Using the menstrual cup is the best option for those who go through heavy flow days as the capacity of these cups are many times higher than tampons and pads.
It is advised to check the cup after every 12 hours and see how much flood is collected. If it is filled, empty it, clean it and reinsert safely. You can make use of mild soap to wash the cup and also advised to sterilize it in boiling water for a few minutes if not after every use, then at least after the end of the cycle.

Benefits Of Using Menstrual Cups -

• All the released blood is safely collected in the cup; so, there is no risk of leakage.
• Menstrual cups are a more hygienic and healthy alternative to traditional pads and tampons.
• Reusable menstrual cups are the cost effective options as one cup can be used for a decade long.
• Since they are reusable, they are eco friendly too.
• These cups allow a woman to know more about her period flow.

Considering all the above said fine points of a menstrual cup, switching from the traditional pads and tampons to the menstrual cups are the good choice for every woman out there.
